I'm disappointed to ArtStation's reaction... or lack of it. Keeping silent and trying to wait this out, is that the strategy for company who tries to stand as leading community for artists? I know there isn't easy solutions to handle this and we're not expecting you to fix the mess started by someone else. But you keep saying you take rights of artists (and companies) very seriously... BUT don't take stand against very clear violations of copyrights, plagiarism and the steal of everyone's rights, work and property. Forget the banning of "AI". It doesn't matter how art, image, product is made. It's not relevant was it party or wholly made with computer or drawn by human. What DO matter is do the work break copyrights, is it plagiarism and now as new question: Is it made by using others property/work without permission and compensation.
Machine Learning aka "AI" are feed with everything they found from internet without asking permission or caring about copyrights. Stealing that information and selling (or giving it) alone should be illegal. Format how they store the information might be new, but it DO NOT make it magically new and remove ownership. Or does new file format for image files do the same? "AI" DO NOT create picture of Mickey Mouse if it doesn't have information in the model. So any commercial machine learning model shouldn't store information they haven't got right to it. And if it do spew out by miracle or accident copyright violations and plagiarism, then it's personal choice do you publish it and that person is accountable for the work. "AI" doesn't remove copyrights because method how you created it DO NOT matter.
So ArtStation, break the silence. Take you stand on this. Let your customers, your community to know how YOU see these things. Silence is of course one way to give opinion, but I'm not sure do your community like that answer. Probably even less than saying aloud that you stand with companies who violates laws and ethics. At least then you would have little bit backbone, not just cower in corner and wait it go away.
